CeramicsPinch-pod Creatures
After brainstorming and sketching a series of animals (favorite animal, steam-punk animal, scary animal, fantasy animal), students selected their favorite and began problem solving. The goal: to create an individualized Pinch-pod creature using fundamental hand-building technique. |
DrawingIntegrated Images
A thought-provoking end of the year assignment! The goal: to blend existing visual information (found in student's hand-selected photograph) with their own hand-drawn imagery to create an entirely new image that incorporates the most important aspects of past assignments. One example: At the beginning of the year, students studied contour line portraits. With this being said, students were required to incorporate contour line within their image. The idea being- a fun and inventive way to evaluate retention and understanding of vocabulary and technique that was acquired throughout the year! |
PaintingAnimalistic Appliances
Students could not contain their excitement when they saw me roll out the supplies cart, brimming with ink containers and countless nibs for countless pens. The perfect medium for any cartooning unit, rich with history and aesthetics! The goal: to give an everyday object or appliance a personality by considering several facial expressions. |
